SCUBA VACATION TO
LITTLE CAYMAN BEACH RESORT

July 26 to August 2, 2008

The Cayman Islands are located in the Caribbean Sea south of Cuba, from which they are separated at the closest point by about 150 miles. The three islands are an outcropping of the Cayman Ridge, a submarine mountain range that extends west from the Sierra Maestra mountain range in Cuba. Grand Cayman is the largest of the islands with 121 square miles. By contrast Little Cayman, the smallest of the three islands, is only one mile by ten. The total land area of the three islands is 162 square miles, or approximately that of Austin, Texas.

All three islands are low lying and are composed of limestone and consolidated coral. The highest point on Little Cayman is only 40 feet in elevation. While tales of pirates abound, most likely Little Cayman saw few visitors until recent times. That lack of human habitation allowed the reefs and walls to grow and flourish.

Today, we glory in the magnificent underwater world that time created. The harsh conditions that keep the islands isolated are also the conditions we seek to protect for the sake of the marine and bird life. Freshwater comes to us free only when it rains and we have built cisterns to collect it. Unfortunately, it is not enough to provide for our guests, so we have built a reverse osmosis plant to produce the water we need.

Little Cayman Beach Resort's service and amenities are outstanding. The pool view rooms are spacious, air-conditioned and tastefully decorated. Each features a balcony or patio, color TV, ceiling fan and private bath. You may also like to take a dip in the freshwater pool or unwind in the Jacuzzi.

The resort has everything you need to make your stay special. In the boutique or the dive shop you will discover everything from postcards to dive gear. We also have a 1,500 square foot conference and meeting center.

Little Cayman boasts the third largest bird sanctuary in the Caribbean and we encourage our guests to arrange for a tour to see all the sites on Little Cayman. Visit the new museum, bird life observatory, the old cemetery, the Baptist Church and much more.

Beach Nuts Bar offers cool drinks which can be enjoyed at the bar or pool side. As the sun begins to set, you will enjoy a wide variety of gourmet specialties, delicious fresh seafood and sumptuous island favorites in our air-conditioned Bird of Paradise Restaurant or dine alfresco among the swaying palms on our screened patio.

Now you can relax and enjoy a full array of spa services. The Spa offers Hair Styling, Nail Services, Facials, Body Masks, Vichy Showers, Body Polishes using all natural products as well as therapeutic massages given by a licensed massage therapist. Special packages available.

Cayman Air does have a weight limit of 55 pounds per person and excess charges currently run .50 per pound. The atmosphere on Little Cayman is very informal so it helps to pack lightly. On occasion, luggage can be delayed and you may wish to include a few personal items in a small carry-on.

TOUR CONDUCTOR

Ed Hoffman will be our tour conductor and scuba consultant on this trip. Ed has been serving as our tour conductor and teaching scuba for the past 32 years.
